Happy Sunday!

I am filled with the love that only comes from welcoming all guests to my home.

Last week, my friend, the executive director of A Network for Grateful Living, Kristi Nelson, shared a poem by Rumi on the show.  Just in case you missed the show, I wanted to share it.

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.

Be grateful for whatever comes.
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

— Jellaludin Rumi,

Not everyone or every feeling we encounter will be welcome.  But what if it were welcomed and embraced without judgment?   Eckhart Tolle says: “What you resist, persists!”  What would our lives be like if we just allowed the feeling to flow in and flow out without attaching to the emotion?  How quickly would we recover from anger, anxiety or disappointment?  All emotions would pass as quickly as they enter our minds…  But then again, no emotion is permanent, not even joy or excitement!

So, as we enter this season of celebrations, let us welcome all guests into our homes.  When we do, our growth will expand as we feel empowered to love the life we live.

I am still excited about all of last week’s shows…  Such great inspirational people who touched my life. I hope you enjoyed them as well.  If you missed listening to any of last week’s shows, there are two ways you can still listen.
